The inspiration for a trip around the Adriatic Sea came from the decision to hold the Wild Writing Women retreat this year in Porto Heli on the Greek penninsula-island of Peloponnesos.
Only a small part of Greece is officially in the Adriatic Sea - the islands of Corfu, Zante, Kephalonia, Ithaka, and Lefkas. The rest of western Greece rises from the Ionian Sea and of course in the east, the Agean.
After my stay in Porto Heli (in the yellow bit across from the little green island of Hydra on the very right edge of the map below), I head up the west coast to Albania.
