Carla King is a San Francisco-based writer who specializes in motorcycle adventure travel. Her book American Borders is the story of a 10,000 kilometer, solo-circumnavigation of the United States on a Russian Ural sidecar motorcycle.
In 1995 she authored the American Borders Dispatches, which is the oldest online travelogue on the Internet. Continuing the realtime adventure series, she sent missives to the Internet during her 1998 journey from Beijing to the Tibetan border in The China Road Dispatches, from India in 2000, and Italy in 2001. Her latest journey was a trip around the Adriatic Sea by on a Moto Guzzi. You can find an index of these stories on the Motorcycle Misadventures site.
In print is American Borders (A Motorcycle Misadventures Journey), Cycling the French Riviera (a guidebook to mountain biking the French Alpes-Maritimes), as well as stories in Wild Writing Women: Stories of World Travel and several Travelers Tales titles, including stories about a bicycle ride from Dakar, Senegal to Abdijan, Ivory Coast as well as bicycle and motorcycle trips through Europe and Jamaica.
Carla is a member of the Wild Writing Women, a San Francisco Bay Area writing group whose self-published Stories of World Travel title attracted a New York publishing contract. The Wild Writing Women, LLC hold wildly popular literary salons in San Francisco's Monticello Inn.
