gear: notebook computers

Sony VAIO PCG-Z505SX: This machine is so thin and so light I thought it might be too delicate to take along on motorcycle trips but it has turned out to be as reliable as it is portable, a real advantage when you've got to pack lightly. The CD-ROM and floppy drives plug in (though I don't take the floppy drive anywhere any more, anyway) and the internal modem means that connectivity is a snap. I am also hooked on Sony's VAIO because of the screen, so bright and crisp and rivalling even Apple's beautiful displays. This has become my only computer, which says a lot, because I review a lot of notebook computers and travel gadgets. Here are some recent reviews and articles about laptop computers:
