gear: software and online services

Here are the tools I use at home, and on the road, to create web pages.

MacroMedia DreamWeaver: to create a web page.

Adobe PhotoShop: to crop, lighten, and otherwise tinker with photos.

Adobe Acrobat: to create PDF files.

Microsoft Word: to write my dispatches and spell check them.

ftp: to upload the web page to my site, or to upload text and photos to my editors sites. FTP is free from www.download.com. I've also started to use Secure FTP.

Microsoft Outlook: for email, calendar, and contacts.

Quicken: to keep track of expenses.

Yahoo! Groups: for groups management from my Wild Writing Women colleagues, webgrrls, and others; for keeping up with Ted Simon's second round the world trip; for web searches on almost anything and for an emergency back-up email service and to download my pop mail on the Internet when I can't get connected via my own service.

ListBuilder: for keeping track of my mailing list and sending updates to members.
