CARLA KING'S "INDIAN SUNSET DISPATCHES" WEBSITE LAUNCHES

1995 Author of First Complete Real-Time Multimedia Web Travelogue Begins Her Next Motorcycle Adventure In India

SAN FRANCISCO, CA (January 6, 2000) -- Travel and technology writer Carla King launches her "Indian Sunset Dispatches" website (http://www.indiansunset.com) today in conjunction with her latest motorcycle journey in India from January through March 2000. Carla, author of 1995's "American Borders" (http://www.americanborders.org) and 1998's "China Road" (http://www.chinaroad.org) dispatches, will ride a Royal Enfield Bullet 500cc motorcycle through southern India as she explores the juxtaposition of new and old, of hi-tech and low-tech as they merge and clash. She plans to interview corporate leaders, women in technology, entrepreneurial web developers, and also spiritual seekers and gurus. She'll visit computing centers such as Bangalore, temples and ashrams in some of the world's most sacred sites, and the forgotten hippie havens of the sixties. Through Carla's travelogue, visitors will experience the sights and sounds of the Indian highway, of beaches and cool mountain hill stations, jungles, yoga centers, temples and more in this multimedia documentary of a wild ride in the exotic near east.

For Carla's fans who prefer to be kept informed by email, there will be an Indian Sunset newsletter. To subscribe, send a blank email to: carlaking-subscribe@listbot.com

Several media organizations have already signed on to provide updates or stories tied to Carla's trip, including Women.com, ZDTV Internet Tonight, AsianConnections.com, Journeywoman.com, WomenAsia.com, Asia-Links.com, motoworld, and MCguide. Links for all of these sites can be found in the "Media Index" area of the "Contacts" section of the Indian Sunset site and more will be added as the trip progresses. Carla's pre-trip interview with ZDTV Internet Tonight is scheduled to air on January 13, 2000.

Design and production for this latest live interactive adventure is being directed by artist and filmmaker MD Dundon. Following Carla's return from India, Carla and MD plan to enhance the "Indian Sunset" site using Macromedia's Flash animation technology to build a new paradigm for educational sites.

Tour sponsors include Classic Motorworks Ltd. (Royal Enfield USA distributor; http://www.enfieldmotorcycles.com), Macromedia (http://www.macromedia.com), and Teledapt (http://www.teledapt.com).
