Belly in Pondicherry
Guess what?
My stomach of iron turned to jelly yesterday at about 6 pm, and
I spent all of last night and today no more than 10 feet from the
bathroom. At least my 300 rupee room at the Park Guest House HAS
a toilet! It also faces the sea, has hot water, and filtered drinking
water outside in the hallway. They've also sent me to the clinic,
where the doctor says my 103 temperature and other symptoms are
severe "travelers illness," and has prescribed the antibiotic Cipro,
which my doctor at home had already provided me. The charge for
seeing the doctor? 50 rupees, please. 20 rupees for the cab. I felt
better.
