Day 13 (January 20, 2000)
The Soul of Auroville The Matrimandir is "the soul of Auroville," the intentional community just 10km from Pondicherry. It's a meditation chamber enclosed in a humongous cement ball (still under construction), and today I spent an hour in it. I am normally unable to meditate, but wrapped in this luxurious pure white chamber of silence, focusing on the largest crystal in the world which is illuminated by a light from above, this special hour went by in what I thought couldn't have been more than 15 minutes. It was a bit like what I'd imagine being in an alien ship might be like. Did I, in fact, travel? BACK TO HOME |
