Shopping for...stuff And there's lots of stuff here to shop for! Across the street from the east gate of the Sri Meenakshi temple is a covered shopping area dug about five feet into the earth. It's full of stalls selling everything from bindis to brass to clothes ready made for you in an hour ma'am. I bought some children's books on Hindu and Muslim tales and a few little books describing the traditional kollam (rangoli) designs that I loved so much in Mamallapuram. I've also had a shirt and pants made. I brought along a shirt I love, and the tailor is copying it. Shirt and pants together cost about $6.00, custom. BACK TO HOME |
